Overview

Who is the audience?

Women aged 25-55 concerned about breast health.

What will they use this platform for?

A comprehensive self-screening solution created for our audience so that they can perform regular breast health monitoring at home and detect abnormalities early between clinical screenings.

Where is the current pain?

Having to schedule and travel to clinical facilities for breast screenings, which are costly, inconvenient, and infrequent (only 1-2 times per year), creating gaps in early detection.

Why will they need this product?

This product aims to provide objective breast health monitoring, empowering users to detect changes early through guided scanning and data-driven insights between annual mammograms.

Role In The Project

As the lead UX/UI designer on a cross-functional team, I led user research with 8 women to identify barriers to regular screening, designed the end-to-end app experience.

From device pairing to result interpretation, created an intuitive scanning flow that reduces anxiety, developed the complete visual design system, and collaborated closely with medical advisors and hardware engineers to ensure accuracy and feasibility throughout the design process.

Overview

Your health at your fingertips

Introducing a revolutionary breast cancer scanning app that gets integrated with a physical breast cancer scanning device to enable women or men to perform regular breast exams in the comfort of their own homes. With this app, you can now detect any signs of breast cancer early on, helping to increase their chances of successful treatment and recovery.

By combining cutting-edge technology with the convenience of home scanning, this app is a game-changer in the fight against breast cancer.

The process

To identify our target audience, we needed to understand our user personas.

  • We visited a hospital to observe people who go for breast cancer checks and how they undergo the process.

  • The device pictured is the scanning device that you hold in your palm and place on your breast.

  • You hold the button down to scan that specific location.

  • The app notifies you of any lumps detected.

  • To comprehend the full user experience, we created empathy maps.

Persona

Empathy Map

Empathy maps helped in developing the breast cancer scanning app by providing insights into the users' emotions, behaviours, and attitudes towards breast cancer screening. An empathy map is a tool that helps to understand the user's perspective and to develop a user-centred design.

The road ahead

In order to thoroughly understand the product, we conducted a comprehensive study process which assisted us in developing the overall structure of the product. During this process, we also conducted a card sorting session for Information Architecture which helped us organize the categories in the app.

Wireframes

Using the feedback and insights gained from research, analysis and sketching, a how-fidelity prototype was created to begin user testing.

Design

A focus on self care

The UI Design reflects the user's desire to have a clutter free, curated look and feel.

Typography

Avenir is a geometric sans-serif typeface. The font family is characterised by its clean, modern lines and has become a popular choice for both print and digital designs.
